Polychrome decorated folding knife, c.1375-1450

A 14-15th century style folding knife with a beech wood handle with polychrome painted decoration along the grip.

The shape is loosely based upon a surviving bronze-handled knife in a private collection published in "Cutlery for the Table: A history of British table and pocket cutlery", adapted to use with wood.

The blade is forged and file-worked from O1 spec steel, the handle painted with historical pigments suspended in a modern (acrylic) binder.
